In an exciting revival of her fashion journey, Alexa Chung is back in the spotlight as the creative director and designer for Barbour’s new collection, ‘The Edit by Alexa Chung.’ This collaboration marks a significant milestone for the British heritage brand, as it combines Chung’s unique style with Barbour’s storied legacy.
Having closed her eponymous label, AlexaChung, in 2022, Chung has partnered closely with Barbour’s in-house team to create a collection that breathes new life into classic outerwear, clothing, and, for the first time, wellington boots. The collection draws inspiration from vintage aesthetics, offering a fresh twist on timeless designs.
“I am so pleased to be exploring a new chapter with Barbour,” Chung shared. “Designing this collection was a total joy. My intention was to create something immediate that reflects my wardrobe, interests, and style in this moment, while staying true to the brand’s epic heritage.”
Described as Chung’s “most personal to date,” each piece in the collection is named after her close friends and family, adding an intimate touch to the collection. Highlights include wax jackets with tartan liners, vibrant quilted jackets, and hand-knitted pieces crafted by Harleys of Scotland. Notably, the collection introduces footwear with a short Wellington inspired by Chung’s signature Chelsea Boot and a versatile slip-on clog.
Among the standout items is the Barbour x Alexa Liam wax jacket, which Chung previewed at Glastonbury. This piece offers a fresh interpretation of Barbour’s traditional Parka, infused with 90s Britpop vibes and references to the film Quadrophenia. Additionally, Chung has designed a long-line quilted coat featuring her beloved onion-stitch quilting pattern, available in three stylish colorways. Other offerings include several wax trench coats, ruffle shirts, cable knit cardigans, and ankle-height Wellington boots.
Paul Wilkinson, Barbour’s group commercial director, expressed enthusiasm about the collaboration, stating, “It was such an easy decision to work with Alexa again this season as she is so synonymous with the brand, having worn Barbour from being a child. Using Barbour’s archive and Scottish tartan heritage, Alexa infused her personality to create a timeless collection of modern wardrobe essentials.”
‘The Edit by Alexa Chung’ is now available in-store and online at Barbour.com, as well as select retail partners, with UK sizes ranging from 6 to 18. Prices start at £49.95 and go up to £469, making this collection a blend of accessible and premium fashion for all.
