Taylor Hill, the 22-year-old Victoria’s Secret model, has opened up about her long-standing battle with acne, emphasizing the importance of embracing imperfections and being real. Since the age of 15, Hill has struggled with the common skin condition that affects millions of people worldwide, yet she continues to maintain her self-esteem and encourages others to do the same.
In an interview with Allure, Hill shared, “I have ups and downs. I struggle with acne, and I’ve struggled for a long time.” Despite diligent skincare routines and visits to dermatologists, her acne persists, but she has learned to accept it as part of life.
Acne, which affects around 80% of people aged 11 to 30, can be a source of insecurity, but Hill’s candid approach has inspired many. She recently posted a makeup-free selfie on Instagram, showing a cluster of spots between her eyebrows, which garnered over 760,000 likes and a flood of supportive comments from fans. One follower wrote, “I love how you posted this even though you can see your acne. It makes me not feel so bad about mine.”
Hill was pleasantly surprised by the positive response to her unfiltered photos. “Everyone was like, ‘Oh, my God! Thank you for this.’ And I was like, ‘What are you all talking about? Oh. Yeah, I guess I do have a zit right there, that’s true,’” she recalled.
Highlighting the pressures in the fashion and beauty industry, Hill also criticized the unrealistic standards set by photo editing, stating, “It’s not really fair to the girls.” She believes it’s crucial to share the real aspects of her life to connect with others, particularly young girls who might be struggling with their own self-image.
“I’m not perfect, and I don’t try to be,” Hill says. “I think it’s so important to share that realness because I’m a human being. I’m young, I’m 22, and I’m going to speak to the even younger girls. Because I’ve been there when I was 16. And, we didn’t have somebody to be real with us.”
Hill’s message is clear: beauty isn’t about perfection, but about embracing every part of who you are—flaws included.
